WEEKLY GARBAGE COLLECTION

The residents of the Village of Chester will begin the weekly pick up of green bins on June 14 and will continue until September 13, 2011. Collections for both weekly green bins and bi-weekly garbage collections will be on TUESDAY ONLY. Houses who normally have their garbage collected on Wednesday, will now be collected on Tuesday beginning June 14 and remain on Tuesday after the weekly collection ends in September. Their regular garbage pick up day will continue to be every other Tuesday through out the year. Please call the Village of Chester Commission office if you have any questions.

The regular monthly meeting of the Village of Chester of Commission has been cancelled. There is no meeting for Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Our next monthly meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 8, 2010 @ 7:00 pm (upstairs over the Firehall)

Waste Collection in Village of Chester will Remain Unchanged

The Municipality of the District of Chester and the Village of Chester Commission, by mutual agreement, have determined that the implementation of the proposed "off-week" waste collection within the Village of Chester, which was to commence on July 6, 2010, is not possible at this time.
Both parties have agreed that the initiative by the Commission to enhance service to the Village of Chester residents needs further investigation.
The complexity of the issue and its impact on Municipal, Regional, and Provincial waste management by-laws, strategies and goals has brought us to the conclusion that further discussion is required before either party could be in a position to move forward with this initiative.
We regret any inconvenience this decision may have on Village residents.
